Since 2008, MAPLE has led the effort to empower the next generation of Ugandan innovators to design for financial, cultural, and ecological resilience.

Mbale Center for Innovation & Design (MCID) aims to provide hands-on experiences, appropriate tools, and practical knowledge that will empower creative design thinking and community action related to environmental preservation and economic agency.

MCID exists in the rural, fragile ecological zone of the Mt. Elgon region where subject matter experts, NGOs, and others can meet with local youth to co-design and test solutions to problems including clean water, local manufacturing, and energy-saving solutions. Learn more at www.maplemcid.org.
