micro-business development program
With Everyone Village (E1V)—https://everyonevillage.org/
MAPLE Oregon currently assists residents of Everyone Village (E1V) in Eugene, Oregon, to earn income through two microbusinesses:
An on-site bottle drop center arranged in partnership with the Oregon Beverage Recycling Cooperative (OBRC)
A agro-ecology program connected to the Homeless Garden Project (starting in 2025)
With Emerald Village Eugene (EVE)—https://www.squareonevillages.org/emerald
In prior years, MAPLE assited residents of Emerald Village Eugene (EVE) to co-design several microbusiesses:
Selling transparent backpacks that met the requirements for entrance into University of Oregon events
Growing and selling garden starts from the greenhouse
Nurturing tree starts for sale to the City of Eugene for its urban forest
Making and selling crafts at the seasonal, outdoor community market
With the community of p:ear in Portland, Oregon—https://www.pearmentor.org/
With p:ear, our new partner organization in Portland, Oregon, we anticipate connecting the savings and credit building pilot program we are currently designing with community members to p:ear works microbusinesses. These include a coffee shop, a bicycle repair store, and hopefully in the future, an urban farm.
