Indigenous financial models

Under the guidance of Mapuche Traditional Authorities, MAPLE Chile co-designed, prototyped and documented—with a local women-led team from the Llaguepulli Community—the first ever Mapuche-managed community financial institution, now known as Mutual Support Group based on the Mapuche concept of “Kelluwun” or collective and mutual help.

The Mutual Support Group is sustained through the creation of regenerative assets through sustainable business models that support local farmers and women, native seeds and crops, and natural textiles and dyes.
